Bootmgr is Missing - Dell XPS 8500 - Windows 7 64bit
Rebooted PC after re-sizing my main partition. (Tested out Win 8 on a different partition.)
Got:
Bootmgr is missing
Booted up Win 7 install CD and went into recovery console.
Tried, bcdboot.exe and got "failure when attempting to copy boot files".
Tried bootrec /fixmbr
/fixboot
/rebuildbcd
/scanos
... to no avail.
Tried Diskpart, and here I was close but the WRONG thing to do is make your system partition the active partition. Make the SECOND partition the active one.
After much digging I finally found THE answer.
The issue was that Dell is using EFI boot manager, which means it uses a different partition to store to boot information.
